Yes — Ossidex is a free DICOM viewer to download on iPhone and iPad. Free users can import any number of studies, scroll them in 2D, adjust window/level and measure, and try every advanced tool on a built-in sample CBCT. MPR, 3D, the dental panoramic arch and multi-panel layouts on your own studies are part of Pro, an optional subscription.

Free DICOM viewers by device
“Free” means different things for different DICOM viewers, and most of them run on one kind of device only. What matters is whether the free part opens your study on the device you actually have. Checked on vendor sites and the US App Store, September 2026:

Is a free viewer good enough?
For a patient who wants to see their own MRI, or a clinician checking a single study, 2D viewing with window/level and a ruler is usually all you need — and that is free. Dentists reading CBCT usually want cross-sections along the arch and MPR; that is where Pro starts. You can try both on the sample scan first.

Is there a completely free DICOM viewer for iPhone?
Ossidex is free to download and its 2D viewer with measurements is free with no time limit and no cap on imports. Advanced modes (MPR, 3D, arch) are paid.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no account in Ossidex, free or Pro.
Does the free version add watermarks?
No. Exported images and PDF reports carry no watermark. Export becomes a Pro feature once your library holds more than five studies.
Can I try MPR and 3D before paying?
Yes. The built-in sample CBCT has every tool unlocked — MPR, 3D, the panoramic arch and multi-panel layouts.
Is there a free trial of Pro?
Plans and any introductory trial are shown in the App Store sheet before you subscribe. Cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Is a free DICOM viewer safe for patient data?
It depends on where the images go. Ossidex processes studies on the iPhone or iPad and does not upload them; some online viewers also work locally in the browser, while cloud platforms store your files on their servers. Check the privacy policy of any viewer before you open patient scans in it.
Can I view MPR for free?
In Ossidex, MPR, 3D and the arch are free on the built-in sample CBCT and part of Pro on your own studies. IMAIOS DICOM Viewer offers MPR free for personal use, and desktop viewers such as Horos, Weasis and 3D Slicer are free on a computer.
