What is Ossidex?
A DICOM viewer app for iPhone and iPad that opens CT, dental CBCT, MRI and X-ray studies from any scanner and shows them in 2D, MPR, 3D and a dental panoramic arch, with measurements and PDF export.
Was Ossidex previously called MedScan?
Yes. The app was renamed Ossidex in September 2026. Your studies, settings and subscription carry over unchanged.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. The App Store also offers the iPad app on Macs with Apple M1 or later, marked “Designed for iPad, not verified for macOS”.
Which file formats can it open?
DICOM (with or without .dcm extension), DICOMDIR, Enhanced multi-frame CT/MR, NIfTI (.nii, .nii.gz), and ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR/GZ and ISO/IMG archives. Full list.
How do I open a disc from a hospital or dental clinic?
Copy the whole disc folder to the Files app (via a computer, AirDrop or a USB-C drive) and import the folder. You do not need the Windows viewer on the disc. Guide.
Can I open a scan someone sent me as a link?
Yes — Google Drive (files and folders), Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Drive shared files, WeTransfer, Yandex Disk, Mail.ru Cloud and direct download links. How it works.
Does it support dental CBCT?
Yes. CBCT from Planmeca, Carestream/Dexis, Vatech, Dentsply Sirona, NewTom, i-CAT and others opens with MPR, 3D and a panoramic arch with cross-sections. CBCT viewer.
Can I measure bone height or a canal?
You can measure length, angles and Hounsfield values on slices, MPR planes and arch cross-sections. Ossidex is a viewer, not implant-planning software.
Where are my scans stored?
On your device, inside the app. They are not uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app or using Settings → Clear All Scans removes them.
Is Ossidex HIPAA or GDPR compliant?
Ossidex does not transmit patient images to us, so no PHI reaches our servers. Your organisation’s rules for storing patient data on personal devices still apply — check with your compliance officer.
How much does Pro cost?
Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly, depending on the offer). The price in your currency is shown in the App Store before you buy. Free vs Pro.
How do I cancel?
Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Ossidex → Cancel. Your studies remain available in the free viewer.
Which languages does the app support?
The interface is available in 46 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
