Bee DICOM, XiaoSai Viewer and where it comes from

Bee DICOM Viewer is the international name of 小赛看看 (XiaoSai Viewer) by SinoUnion Healthcare. The Mac edition is distributed through the Mac App Store and needs macOS 11 or later; the Windows edition runs on Windows 7 and later. To move a study to an iPad, export it from Bee DICOM as DICOM files (or copy the original folder), zip it and open it in Ossidex. What Ossidex imports — disc folders, archives, share links and DICOMweb — is listed on cloud-link import and formats.

Tools compared in practice

Both viewers cover the everyday reading tasks: scrolling slices, window/level, length and angle measurements, and HU values on CT. Bee DICOM additionally offers PET/CT fusion and SUV, which matter in nuclear medicine; Ossidex does not do fusion. Ossidex adds a dental panoramic arch with numbered cross-sections, NIfTI volumes with segmentation layers and a one-page PDF report — features aimed at dentists and research users rather than PET reading.

For export, Bee DICOM writes MP4 and PNG; Ossidex exports images, a PDF report, series as PDF or JPEG ZIP, cine as MP4 and an anonymized copy of the study. The download is free: you can import any study, scroll it in 2D, adjust window/level and measure, and a built-in sample CBCT unlocks every tool so you can try them. MPR, 3D, the panoramic arch, multi-panel layouts and unlimited export are part of Pro, an optional auto-renewing subscription priced in the App Store for your country.

What we could not verify

We did not find a public changelog for Bee DICOM with dates for every feature, and we did not test its handling of password-protected archives or cloud links. The table above lists only what the vendor publishes; “Not listed” means we found no public statement, not that the feature is missing.

Which to choose

On a Windows PC or Mac, Bee DICOM is a capable free option, especially if you need PET/CT and SUV. On iPhone or iPad, use a native viewer: Ossidex opens the same DICOM studies, plus archives and cloud links, and processes them on the device.
